The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum offers free school group tours for Pre-K through High School classes. Advanced reservations are required with a minimum of 2-weeks advance notice.
Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, guided tours remain suspended. Please feel free to send an inquiry regarding a visit, and we will keep you informed of all circumstances.
Tours are approximately 30 minutes for Pre-K to 2nd grade and approximately 45 minutes for 3rd to 12th grade classes. The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s education department can provide your group with an interdisciplinary hands-on art experience before or after touring the exhibition. The tour and hands-on lesson will take approximately an hour and a half total, and are offered on weekdays only. Most of our lessons are conducted at our Education Annex.
Group tours can be scheduled starting at 9:00 a.m. Schools are expected to arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled start time. If your class arrives late, your tour time may be shortened. If your group arrives ½ hour late your tour may be canceled. If you are delayed, contact 505.946.1017 and leave a message with the estimated time of arrival.
You are expected to provide one chaperone per five students for grades pre-K to 8 and one chaperone per ten students for grades 9 to 12. Teachers and chaperones need to stay with their assigned student group throughout the tour. Museum admission is free for teachers with school groups and the required class chaperones. Self-guided tours are available for small groups of students in grades 7-12.
All scheduling is based on availability. When calling for a reservation, have a few possible dates and times in mind.
