Immerse Yourself in Georgia O'Keeffe's Northern New Mexico Homes

Georgia O’Keeffe maintained two homes in Northern New Mexico about an hour north of Santa Fe. Georgia O’Keeffe first visited the village of Abiquiú (pronounced A-bih-cue) in 1931, and nearly two decades later made it her permanent home. Though best known for her paintings of flowers, abstractions of nature, and New York cityscapes, it is her depictions of the New Mexico landscape that most powerfully evoke a sense of place.

Watch Plants Grow

Georgia O’Keeffe purchased her house in Abiquiú, New Mexico in 1945, attracted in part by its large garden served by the local irrigation system known as an acequia. The garden at her Abiquiú home remains much as it was during the artist’s lifetime. The Garden Webcam is a live feed being captured by a video camera installed on the roof of Georgia O’Keeffe’s home in Abiquiú, documenting the changes in the garden.
